I hate it when I get inspired to art

and then I art

and the art says no

I can already tell that your dad and Wiggles’ would get along.

lol that’d be interesting. XD I’m sure he’d probably get a long with a lot of people I know on here.

Originally before he played skyrim for the first time I told someone about it and said that he does this when playing games and another person is in the room. So we came up with the idea that he should livestream or at least video him playing.

For obvious internet limit issues we couldn’t do either….

but he later said if it weren’t for our limited internet he would have definitely done that :)

my dad is really amusing to listen to while he is playing Skyrim. It’s like live commentary while he’s playing and he just sounds like he’s having way too much fun playing.

"oooooh ebony greatsword"

"and there’s another ditch oh wait hole no lydia don’t fall down the hole lydia what no get away from— too late"

"heeeey this guy’s name is Perth!"

"no shush be quiet shut up hurry up you’re taking forever"

"god damnit where’s lydia gone"

"look lydia’s all red now. Red glowy armour red glowy battleaxe it’s like a Skyrim fashion show. Skyrim’s latest in fashion, daedra style."

"don’t ever legendary the armour skill becaus- oh no stop attacking me no there kill the summoned thingy there yeah now diiii— aww… the dragon priest killed me."

"stop moving i told you stop moving- no stop, stay still stop moving YEAAAAH lalalalallalala I win :D "

"lydia stop moving lydia what are you no stop you’re ruining all my fun! Now they know where I am!"

"doing a dance doing a dance i am best dancer"

"i accidentally whacked lydia and then.. i turned around and she was dead haaaaaha oops."

"1 dragon… 2 dragon…. oh 3 dragons…. no go away wolf i got dragons to kill- no bugger off"

hanyoutaikyoushu just an update regarding chromed leo blaze;

The paint seems to be curing properly afteall (and a lot quicker than I was expecting) and appears to no longer be leaving finger marks if handled gently.

I wont pressure test him, no doubt that would probably affect…

Ahh… wow didn’t even think of that! Ha!

I actually have some clear green paint for models in the mail for something else, but I might just try this on my mosasledge metal figure and see how that goes when the paint arrives.

If it works well I’ll see about acquiring blue (unelagia), orange (flyscissors), red (leo blaze) and black (nightwise) and do them all pretty colours ;D

then shellkarn can just sit there in his metally glory being unpainted… because he’s the odd one out… noonelikesshellkarn.

So story goes I won a Metal Blox Leo Blaze in a contest ages ago, then bought the entire lot (including another Leo Blaze) to complete my set not long after.
I was originally going to paint the second one in his normal red/grey colours but I thought ‘well…. I have two… let’s try to chrome it ;D’
So, yep, here we are; Home-Chromed Metal Blox Leo Blaze :)(And next to him is what he originally look liked.)
He’s not true chrome but I think it’s the closest I’m going to get without actually properly dip-chroming him. He doesn’t like being touched but luckily the only fine details that seem to have been lost due to the paint was the cockpit outline- which I believe I can fix anyway.
Either way, I’m happy with the outcome :)

Thats some super nice chroming! May I ask what kind of paint you use?
I’ve been experimenting with Mr Hobby Chrome paint but I’m always interested in trying new methods. [I’d love to try dip chroming but I just don’t have the equipment for it.]

Thanks!
I used White Knight’s Gloss Black as an undercoat (no primer, I don’t know if primer is really necessary… it worked fine without it for me) and then applied White Knight’s Super Chrome on top.
If you’re going to try this though, take note that he will be virtually untouchable for at least half an hour to an hour after applying the chrome paint. Otherwise finger prints will be left and paint may strip.
I did test this on plastic spoons before Leo Blaze and the chrome doesn’t quite come out the same. It still has that plastic look where as this has a metal look, like chrome should have.

I’m familiar with using the gloss black as a base for chroming; since you need a mirror shine to make the chrome effect work. [I use it with Mr Hobby Super Metallic] Mr Hobby dries in about a minute but it does require a day to cure properly and does need about 3 coats.
But it’s been years since I used White Knight, I didn’t know they did a Chrome and Super gold paint. I am familiar with how long it takes to dry, but it has the nicest luster I’ve found in spray paints. I’ll have to pick some up next time I’m at Bunnings.

Yeah, I did a test with a white plastic spoon, black and then chrome and also just chrome and the black>chrome looks soooo much better. The just chrome just comes out as silver.
My Leo Blaze is done with 1 coat of black and 2 chrome. His second chroming was actually just trying to get his underbody, but during painting I did a brief spray over the rest of him as well.
I don’t know how long they’ve been doing chromed sprays but I know my local hardware sells the Super Chrome (silver) and Gold Chrome alongside a variety of other colours and types.
White Knight is a pretty good and reliable brand, I’ve painted everything from zoids models & lego figurines to cardboard costumes and, now, metal figures with absolutely no issues paint wise (that weren’t my fault ;D ).
On that note, I’ve never tried brands like Testors- and Testors does sell a chrome spray + bottle paint. So I can’t make any comparisons.
Still, White Knight has pretty much every colour and type of spray (clear coat/ primer / flat/satin/gloss/metallic, etc) that you can imagine and are considerably cheap. I think they’re average regular colour can is $8? Primers are like $15 and chrome cans are about $20 each though… so yeah just watch the prices.
Surprisingly prices don’t seem to vary all that much regardless of where you buy them from. For example I think there might be only a 50c difference between Bunnings prices and the prices at my local hardware (And I’m located in the country so it’s normal for prices to be far more expensive).
I should also mention I actually used a spray paint gun handle on mine so the spray is consistent and even. I didn’t always use one and I found it’s a lot harder to control the spray paint using just your finger. Get a gun handle off eBay, mine was like $8 inc postage for 2, it’s easy to use and take on and off and, so far, has fit every can I’ve used. You wont regret buying one if you don’t already have one.

Does anyone have a spare Metal Blox Leo Blaze they’d sell to me? XD

hanyoutaikyoushu just an update regarding chromed leo blaze;

The paint seems to be curing properly afteall (and a lot quicker than I was expecting) and appears to no longer be leaving finger marks if handled gently.

I wont pressure test him, no doubt that would probably affect any paint still curing, but it is good to know that he can be touched and picked up when fully cured.

I’m currently doing research into how to do coloured chroming in which case I might see if I can wrangle another complete set of Metal Blox and colour chrome them in their primary colours (eg Leo Blaze = Red, Flyscissors = Orange, etc) since that would make a wicked looking Metal Blox set alongside their originals.

The only issue is, if coloured-chrome spray paints is the way to go… that’s a very expensive method to just test it on one item….

I actually did a test on plastic spoons before chroming Leo Blaze, the chrome-likeness doesn’t work as well on plastic as it does on metal…
